Schools offering new programs to enhance kids’ academics, mental health | Education

Summer vacation is almost over and it’s back to school for kids on August 14.

Students will be greeted with some good news to kick off the 2025-2026 school year.

MAST Academy and Key Biscayne K-8 Center are once again “A” schools, according to the United States Department of Education which released its results late last month, and private schools and learning centers on the island also excelled in the classrooms.

The new school year is off to a good start and teachers, students, principals and other school officials want to finish it better than the previous year.

That’s why education entities on Key Biscayne are offering new programs for students to continue to boost their stellar performance in the classrooms and take in some recreational activities for good cardiovascular health, while keeping the brain stimulating.

St. Christopher’s By-the-Sea Montessori School is in good spirits to start off the new school year.

Key Biscayne Community Church and Day School is a top choice for parents and their toddlers and everyone is invited to an end of summer bash and backpack blessing event from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., on Sunday, Aug. 10.

The event will feature water games, pizza, a youth-led service and gives new parents an opportunity to meet with school officials, teachers and students.

Parents can register their kids (ages 1 to Pre-K4) during the event for the 2025-2026 school year. For more information, call 305-361-7501, or visit kbccds.com.

Key Biscayne’s Motivating Minds Academy continues to make an impact on kids’ education and this year is no different.

The Keebis Preschool is offering new programs including accepting scholarships this year for kids three months old to Pre K-4 (4-5 years old).

The curriculum includes music, physical education, yoga, art and students can learn how to speak Spanish and Italian.

The Keebis Preschool, inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, is an innovative educational center which focuses on preschool education and fosters a diverse learning environment.

Its goal is to ensure every child is capable of learning, resilient and brimming with wonder and knowledge.

“As a local school deeply rooted in Key Biscayne, we are committed to supporting our children and families,” the school’s website said. “Our extended hours, from 8 a.m.-6 p.m., offer flexibility that surpasses other schools in the area. This broader schedule reflects our understanding of the unique needs of our community, which inspired our new name, “The Keebis.”

The school provides a rich and diverse learning environment, offering activities such as Visual Arts, Music, Yoga, Soccer, and language classes, fostering well-rounded development.
