Avondale ESD board member recognized for service

The Avondale Elementary School District announced that Governing Board Member Mark Gonzales has been recognized by the West Valley Hispanic Elected & Appointed Officials & Community Leaders for his leadership and commitment to public service.

Gonzales was honored for his service on the Avondale ESD Governing Board and his support of public education, youth sports and recreation. He has served on the governing board for 33 years and has advocated for student achievement and educator support, including access to training and classroom resources. During his tenure, the district has earned multiple state and national recognitions.

In addition to his work in education, Gonzales was recognized for more than 30 years of involvement in youth sports, including service as a board member and coach with the Westside Recreation Program. His efforts have supported children and families in Avondale and Goodyear.

Avondale ESD Superintendent Eric Dueppen said Gonzales’ leadership has played a key role in supporting students, educators and the broader community.

District officials said Gonzales’ contributions to education, recreation and community service have had a lasting impact on families throughout the West Valley.

Avondale ESD superintendent joins Goodyear Rotary

The Avondale Elementary School District announced that Superintendent Eric Dueppen has been inducted into the Goodyear PebbleCreek Rotary, marking a milestone in the district’s partnership with the organization.

The Goodyear PebbleCreek Rotary has supported Avondale ESD students and families through college scholarships, book donations, holiday meal assistance and other community-based initiatives. The organization recently launched a family reading program encouraging households to read together for 30 minutes each day.

District officials said Dueppen’s membership is expected to strengthen collaboration and expand opportunities for service benefiting students and families.

Dueppen said he is grateful for the Rotary’s ongoing commitment to the community and looks forward to working alongside members to support educational and family-focused efforts.

Avondale ESD officials said they plan to continue partnering with the Goodyear PebbleCreek Rotary on programs that support student success and community engagement.
